News from the Barn Aisle
No horse camp this year. One reason we can't do horse camp is that I am now working with Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler Texas. This is a fabulous new 1700 acre equestrian show venue with first class facilities for horses and riders alike. Most of my work is done on the computer and telephone from the barn office here at Cottonwoods so I can still just look out my window and check on all our guys in their pastures.
Check out their events page, and if you come up for a show be sure and stop by Cottonwoods on your way, www.texasrosehorsepark.com/events
Horse Care Tips & Products that WORK
1. Equiderma - We have been working with Equiderma for several years now, testing new products and consulting on marketing strategies. If you are interested in using natural organic compound products that really work, especially their Skin Lotion, it is the very best of any anti-fungal or anti-itch we have ever used, try them. www.equiderma.com
Just had the unfortunate task of treating a friend's horse that was tortured all night by a loose stallion and ultimately run through a barbed wire fence. We used the Equiderma poultice material and got remarkable results.
2. Chaffhaye - Just discovered this fabulous stuff. It is wonderful for any horse but even better for the older ones that can no longer chew hay effectively. This type of product has been used in Europe for years - silage, but is new to the US. It is prime alfalfa but with a lot of extra benefits - no worry about blister beetle, moist and succulent, harvested under controlled conditions, high in digestible nutrients..........Everyone of my horses loves it, and I have some very picky eaters. www.chaffhaye.com
3. Cavallo Boots - Tried a pair of these last year on a tender footed horse we did not want to put shoes on for the occasional trial ride and wow. I'd used Easy Boots before and hated all of the fitting and constant adjusting (never could get them right). These things are a breeze! Not only are they easy to take off and on , they fit well, stay on in harsh riding conditions and don't seem to wear out after a lot of miles.. They are now in most of the horse catalogs. Definitely a good buy for the money.
